Congratulations, all supporters and friend of the Long Bay-Okura Great Park Society. You made it possible.
Last month some past and present members of the executive committee were invited to a small ceremony hosted by the Auckland Council to celebrate the transfer of the Heritage Protection Area of the Long Bay Structure Plan (fondly known as the HPA) to public ownership.
Next Saturday, the Friends of Okura Bush are holding a Forest Festival, and the Long Bay - Okura Great Park Society will have a stall there. Drop by and say hello if you are a member. Enjoy a bit of local culture at this annual community event.
These shocking photos of clay sediment running down the creek at the north end of Long Bay Beach were posted to our Facebook page in December.
Fine clay particles from the earthworks behind the park are pouring down into the sea, where they will spread in a layer on top of the sand throughout the entire marine reserve.
